Less than 1/1024 of an inch. Take a 1/32" mark on a machinist rule and divide it by 32 again.

Measure it right. Use a micrometer on a stand and a clean shim. Hand-held calipers on a dirty shim won't read true.
Watch the heat. The rare-earth magnets can lose strength for good above 175°F (80°C).
